24. Synthesis of a Cyclopropane Derivative

Cyclopropanation is a typical reaction of alkenes. But how are we going to assemble the rest of the molecule?

The key to this synthesis is to recognize that we’re making a cis-substituted cyclopropane, which means that the predecessor must be a cis-alkene. How do we make a cis-alkene? The most straightforward way is via the Witting reaction.
