20. Synthesis of a Halogenated Alkene from Acetylene and Epoxide
This is a fun little exercise that uses a variety of reactions from the first semester organic chemistry.
The reactions you’re going to see in this synthesis include:

- Epoxide opening
- Partial reduction of alkynes
- Conversion of alcohols into alkyl halides
