Diagnostic Session
If you’re struggling with organic chemistry despite all the efforts you’re putting in, it’s often not because you didn’t study enough. I’ve been teaching organic chemistry for over 20 years and I can tell you from experience: studying more won’t help if you don’t address the core issue of why you’re struggling in the first place. If the real problem hasn’t been identified first, more studying, tutoring, or office hours and sleepless nights at the library often just means spending more time (and money) repeating the same mistakes.
The Diagnostic Session is not a traditional tutoring session. A typical tutoring session helps you with the problem in front of you. The Diagnostic Session is designed to figure out why you’re struggling, whether it’s the content knowledge, weak gen chem foundation, incorrect study approach, or wrong focus.
How Diagnostic Session Is Structured
1️⃣ Before the meeting:
- Once you submit your inquiry, I’ll send you an intake form covering your current situation, study habits, course structure, and academic background.
- Based on your responses, I’ll prepare a personalized assessment designed to evaluate your baseline knowledge, identify strengths and weaknesses, and uncover the specific gaps that may be holding you back.
- If needed, I may follow up with additional questions or request course materials (such as your syllabus) to make the assessment more accurate.
2️⃣ I’ll review the materials you sent me along with your answers to the assessment package and schedule the online meeting to go over the results.
3️⃣ During our meeting, we’ll go through the results, discuss your current challenges in more details, and map out the most effective path forward.
4️⃣ After the session, you’ll leave with a clear, structured plan tailored to you:
- what to fix first,
- what to ignore for now,
- how to actually study so the material starts making sense instead of piling up, and
- whether ongoing tutoring even makes sense for your situation.
I bring 20 years of teaching experience, extensive research into teaching and learning, and specialized training in education and cognitive psychology to every diagnostic. No generic advice. No “just practice more.” No paying for tutoring sessions without understanding what actually needs to change.
The Diagnostic Session fee is $300. The payment link will be in the follow-up email you’ll receive after submitting your inquiry below.
