  • Feedback is constructive and instructive in nature. It’s not “give me the answer” or “do my homework” option. I will give you feedback on the legit attempt to solve a problem if you show me your work and I will ignore any request that just asks for the answer.

Is The Membership Right For YOU?

No. This is a supplement designed to help you understand the material your course is already covering. While this site will give you answers to nearly any questions you have about your course material, I still encourage you to attend lectures and use your assigned textbook. This site will help fill in the gaps where things don’t click and shows you how instructors expect you to think on exams. That part is something that textbooks will never be able to do for you.

No. This is not an answer-giving or homework-completion service. If you show a genuine attempt, I’ll give you targeted feedback, point out mistakes, and help you correct your reasoning.

I hold “office hours” multiple times per week. Once you become a member, you’ll see an option on the front page to schedule a time that works for you. These meetings are focusing on your questions and don’t have a preset agenda or curriculum. So, bring your questions (or send them to me ahead of time) and we’ll discuss them in the meeting.

Most resources show what to do. This site focuses on why things work and how to apply that reasoning to new problems. You’re not just watching explanations, you’re getting structured practice, feedback, and guidance.

  • Self-Study – If you’re comfortable working independently and mainly want structured practice and explanations.
  • Guided – If you want ongoing guidance, feedback, and a second set of eyes on your work.
  • Semester Pass – If you want continuity and support for the entire semester and want all the best resources at your fingertips.

You can upgrade at any time. If you’re not sure which membership to choose to get the best help with your curriculum and needs, feel free to send me a message.

That depends on your starting point and how consistently you engage with the material. Students who keep up weekly and actively work through problems typically notice improved confidence and exam performance within a few weeks.

It means your questions and submissions are reviewed ahead of non-priority requests, and feedback is focused on helping you fix mistakes and improve reasoning, not just telling you what’s wrong.

Yes. In fact, students in that situation often benefit the most, especially from the Monthly Membership or Semester Pass, because the focus is on building understanding, not cramming.

No. I can’t control how much time or effort you put in. What I do guarantee is clear explanations, honest feedback, and guidance based on how organic chemistry is actually tested.

  • Monthly memberships renew monthly and can be canceled or upgraded at any time.
  • The Semester Pass is a one-time charge for the full semester.

No. Membership provides structured resources, group sessions, and feedback.
Private tutoring and semester-long individual mentorship are separate, personalized services and are offered on a limited basis.

OrganicChemistryTutor.com covers essentially the full Organic Chemistry I and II curriculum from foundational concepts to advanced synthesis.

You’ll find tutorials on bonding and resonance, stereochemistry and conformations, reaction mechanisms and reactivity, substitution and elimination, alkene and alkyne chemistry, aromatic compounds, carbonyl chemistry, carboxylic acid derivatives, amines, organometallics, multistep synthesis and retrosynthesis, spectroscopy (IR, NMR, MS), biomolecules, and more.

Most basic tutorials are free. Membership unlocks additional in-depth sections, practice quizzes, and workbooks that are seamlessly integrated into the topics when you’re logged in. Practice questions include detailed answer keys, instant feedback, and randomized quiz pools, with new content added regularly.

Yes. This site is built and maintained by a professional chemist with over 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring organic chemistry. I hold a PhD in Chemistry and Chemistry Education, have taught organic chemistry at the college level, and have worked one-on-one with well over a thousand students.

Everything here is designed with a clear understanding of both the subject and how students actually struggle with it, focusing on reasoning, mechanisms, and exam-relevant thinking rather than shortcuts or memorized tricks. I teach and tutor this material for a living, the explanations focus on how students actually struggle and how they succeed.

Most resources follow a specific textbook or chapter order. This site doesn’t. Topics are organized as a flexible, open-ended library, so you can jump directly to what you need without assuming you’ve mastered everything that came before.

Content is generally grouped by functional group chemistry, with dedicated sections for synthesis, spectroscopy, mechanisms, and other topics that cut across the curriculum. This makes it usable regardless of how your course is structured.

Just as importantly, this isn’t a static resource. If you’re unsure where to start, or not even sure what you’re confused about, you can ask. I’m personally involved and available to help guide you through the material, rather than handing you off to generic answers or automated responses.

Yes! Lectures focus on explaining concepts. Exams test whether you can apply those concepts to unfamiliar problems. That gap isn’t because instructors are trying to trick you, it’s because there simply isn’t enough time in lecture to practice problem-solving at the level exams require.

Organic chemistry is a skill. Like learning a language or an instrument, understanding the theory isn’t enough. You need deliberate, repeated practice. That’s why the tutorials and practice on this site are built around exam-style problems, with an emphasis on reasoning, synthesis, and application rather than passive listening.

That’s fair. There are hundreds of free tutorials on this site, and many students use them successfully. Membership is for students who want more structure, practice, and guidance.

As a member, you get access to deeper, members-only sections within tutorials, along with targeted practice problems designed to address common misconceptions and exam traps. Practice includes detailed answer keys, instant feedback, and randomized question pools to help build real mastery, not just familiarity with the material.

The material is also designed using evidence-based learning strategies like spaced repetition and retrieval practice, so you’re challenged without being overwhelmed.

Finally, membership gives you direct access to me for guidance and clarification. This isn’t a hands-off content library! It’s an actively supported learning environment built and maintained by one person, focused entirely on organic chemistry.

If the free material is enough for you, great. Membership is for when you want structure, feedback, and continuity.

If you’re looking for shortcuts or quick answers, this probably isn’t the right fit. If you want to actually understand organic chemistry, you’re in the right place.

Now, if you got all the way down here, go and get yourself a cup of coffee ☕️ and maybe take a walk ‘coz there are entirely too many words on this page 😆
